Before receiving my licensure as a Professional Counselor, I was a resident under the tutelage of Tanya Hull. I have been a therapist at Family Therapeutics for 7 years. Over the past 15 years, I have developed a vast understanding of children, youth, and families while working in various mental health and social service settings. I have had experience working with domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, children and youth in the foster care system, and students with disabilities. I am currently employed as a mental health therapist with Fairfax County Government where I serve youth with a variety of issues such as emotional dysregulation, school problems, opposition, anxiety, ADHD, and trauma. I truly love working with adolescents, adults, and families. My professional strengths include empathy, honesty, objectivity, genuine warmth, and compassion. My treatment methods are individualized but my theoretical framework includes Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. My goal as a therapist is to create a safe and open environment that will promote healing and help my clients reach his or her highest potential. I received my BS in Health Sciences with a concentration in substance abuse intervention from James Madison University and my MS in Rehabilitation Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University. I also have a certification in Rehabilitation Counseling as this was a part of my master's program. When I'm not working, I enjoy watching movies, reading, taking long walks with my dog, and spending time with my family, especially my three nephews and two nieces. I offer telehealth and in person counseling sessions.
